What Is SSD
Aug 18, 2022
Solid state drives are named after solid capacitors in Taiwanese English. SSD is composed of control unit and storage unit (flash chip and DRAM chip).
SSD is completely the same as ordinary HDD in terms of interface specification, definition, function and use method, and is basically the same as ordinary HDD in terms of product appearance and size (the size and shape of emerging U.2, m.2 and other forms of SSD are completely different from SATA mechanical HDD).
It is widely used in military, vehicle, industrial control, video monitoring, network monitoring, network terminal, power, medical, aviation, navigation equipment and many other fields.
The operating temperature range of the chip is large, including commercial standard products (0 ~ 70 ℃) and industrial standard products (- 40 ~ 85 ℃). Although the cost is high, it is being popularized to the DIY market.
Because the technology of solid-state disk is different from that of traditional hard disk, many new memory manufacturers have emerged. Manufacturers only need to buy NAND particles, match them with appropriate control chips, and write the main controller code to manufacture solid-state drives.
Sata-2 interface, sata-3 interface, SAS interface, msata interface, PCI-E interface, m.2 interface, CFAST interface, sff-8639 interface and nvme / AHCI protocol are widely used in the new generation of solid state drives.
